Where are you camping this Long Week end???
Long weekends are one of the busiest times for Campers and Caravanners, finding the ideal spot can often be a challenge. With some travellers finding themselves in new and uncharted territory, we have put together a list of some great camping spots that may be in areas that are a little less known, but still offer some great camping locations. We have selected one camp spot in each state, in no particular order.
Fraser Coast RV Park @ River Heads, QLD
The recently opened Fraser Coast RV Park in River Heads is the ideal place to stay if you’re heading to the Fraser Coast for a spot of fishing, a visit to Fraser Island or to see the whales in whale watching season. Nestled on 75 acres of natural bushland, this is the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day exploring the Fraser Coast region.
Thunderbolt Park @ Coneac, NSW
Thunderbolt Park is a privately owned 800 acre cattle farm tucked away in a valley and surrounded by magnificent panoramic views of the countryside and mountains. Nestled to the northeast of the Barrington Tops, Thunderbolt Park is a nature lovers paradise.
Killarney Beach Camping Reserve @ Killarney, VIC
Great if you’re looking for a spot to set-up at the western end of the Great Ocean Road and Victoria’s ‘Shipwreck Coast’. This popular park sitting behind the dunes on the beach will be a destination you won’t want to miss. The sea air, the beautiful natural surroundings, and the myriad of interesting sights to see in the local area. It makes a perfect base to return to after a day’s exploration.
White Beach Tourist Park @ White Beach, TAS
Nestled in the shelter of Wedge Bay only 10 minutes from the famous Port Arthur Historic Site is the popular White Beach Tourist Park. The park is the perfect spot to base yourself to take in the best of the Tasman Peninsula.
Kapunda Tourist Park @ Kapunda, SA
The Kapunda Tourist Park is nestled between the famous Barossa and Clare Valley wine areas. It is the ideal place to visit if you’re into fine wines, copper mines, and relaxing times. Only 80 klms from Adelaide, Kapunda is the oldest mining town in Australia. Also one of South Australia’s best kept secrets. You are sure to enjoy all the scenic walks and drives. As well as exploring the many heritage opportunities available in the area.
Cooroboree Park Tavern @ Marrakai, NT
Located on the Arnhem Highway just an hour southeast of Darwin’s CBD. Also, about halfway to the awesome escarpments of Kakadu. The Corroboree Tavern makes a great stopover for a few hours or a few days. In the heart of the wetlands, with the Adelaide River to the west and Mary River to the east. You’ll find not only a comfortable campsite but all the flora and fauna of the area. Including up to 280 species of birds on your doorstep. There is even a resident ‘pet’ croc called Brutus. I think he has a separate pool all to himself and doesn’t need to use the camper’s, but might be worth it to check, hey?
Boat Harbour Camp @ Parryville, WA
Boat Harbour Camp, which is signed Boat Harbour Chalets & Camping is located just off the South West Highway between Denmark and Walpole, WA. The camp offers a natural and peaceful bush setting. It is situated within close proximity to beautiful beaches, popular tourist attractions. Including National Parks, amazing natural attractions, and wineries.
