VINTAGE CARAVANS, CUSTOM CARS & ROCK N ROLL
For 25 years, the Wintersun Rock n roll Nostalgia festival thrived on the Gold and Tweed Coast. Unfortunately, it all came to an end in 2010. Now with this new event, caravan Lovers are full steam ahead with the great news that you can camp on site.
The original Wintersun Festival was all about custom and classic cars combined with some good old fashioned Rock N Roll. The festival spilled through the streets and attracted thousands of enthusiasts who were entertained by live bands, street performers, dancing, and street parades.
One of the original Wintersun Festivals in 2007
Since disbanding in 2010 several attempts have been made to revive Wintersun, with efforts in Port Macquarie and even Mildura in NSW considered as a possible new venue. Cooly Rocks On was then introduced in 2011.
In 2017 however, local businessman and mad keen enthusiast Steve Bowman of Aces & Eights Speed Shop had an idea to revive the Wintersun 2.0 Festival as close as they could to the original concept.
We wanted it to have a similar theme and feel to the original Wintersun Festivals.
So, with the help of Tayla Stephens, several close friends, and other mad enthusiasts, they kicked off Wintersun 2.0 at the Murwillumbah Showground in NSW.
Wintersun 2.0 (2017 @ Murwillumbah)
It was such a success that they are back again this year. This time with the event spread over two weekends and at two different locations within the Tweed Shire.
Lots of Custom Cars on Display
The first weekend will focus on custom and classic cars including Hot Rods, Street Cars, Muscle Cars, and Historic Cars. It will also extend to a range of vintage caravans including some unique tear drops and some unique caravans with homemade improvements making you think that it’s the 50’s again when you’re inside along with great entertainment and dancefloor. The second weekend will focus on a greater range of entertainment with the largest dance floor in South-East Queensland.
Beautiful Vintage Caravans on Display
Entertainment will be plentiful with some great headline acts including Little Stevie and the Tailfins, Colt Seavers, Hi-Boys, Cherry Divine, West Texas Crude and The Haymakers and many more.
