Get On Board – Become A Volunteer Campground Host

Free Range Camping love HELP OUT opportunities and thanks to a heads up from Christopher Holt, a FRC follower, we have something very exciting to share with you.
BECOME A CAMPGROUND HOST is an incentive of the Dept of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing and the opportunity is yours NOW.

Here’s the nuts and bolts…..
Enjoy the wonders of North Queensland while assisting Park Rangers in some of the amazing National Parks around the Cairns, Atherton and Ingham regions. Volunteer Campground Host positions are available for the Christmas school holidays from the 20th Dec – 4th Jan. Acting as an ambassador for Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, you’ll camp for free and receive inductions and training as part of the position. For more information, email: [email protected]

“Why not stay, work and play at one of Queensland’s top locations? Become a campground host in some of our fantastic national parks. Hosts volunteer their time and get to see some of Queensland’s most beautiful locations for free, meet fascinating people and create memories that last a lifetime. Using your very good communication and interpersonal skills you will act as an ambassador for QPWS and be a first point of contact for new arrivals to a park, provide up to date information and other services. Additional duties vary between parks or sites.

You will receive training and induction from rangers before you start, any equipment you need to carry out your duties and ongoing ranger support during your stay….”
Some of the parks you can register with are North West and Lady Musgrave Islands, (Capricornia Cays National Park) Fraser Island (Great Sandy National Park) Noah Beach (Daintree National Park) and Elliot Heads (Heathlands Regional Parks)

I simply love this initiative. Not only do you get to visit, for free, some of our most beautiful parks, you also have the personal satisfaction of sharing your love of our beautiful country with others. Once your duties are done, you are free to do your own exploring. Awesome!
If anyone takes this up, we at Free Range Camping would love to hear your tales, so keep in touch.
