Alpana Station in the Flinders Ranges, SA. What a great place this was to stay. Set on 60,000 acres it was a true outback experience. We have classed it as a LOW COST Camp Ground, as camping near the dry river bed was only $10 per night, per vehicle. They do have other accommodation however including some powered sites.
The hosts David & Sally were very welcoming. It is a great place to stay if you want to explore the northern end of the Ranges. They have some great 4WD tracks on the property and offer tours. The wildlife was amazing with Emus, Eagles and the Yellow footed rock wallaby all making appearances.
Sitting beside the campfire here at night still rates as one of the best locations to have a campfire. The isolation was so peaceful and the stars so clearly visible.
