The Maclean showground is a great camp spot right on the Clarence River and it is located on a short 800m walk into town.  They offer a maximum of 10 campsites available for a three night stay, but it is first in first served bases as you are not able to book your sites.  There are designated areas to park with some sites along the river bank, and the rest around the main ring.  The sites are all grassed and reasonable flat.  The site is for FSCV only as there are minimal facilities with Toilets and No Showers, but they do have a dump point.  Pets are permitted on a leash.

The showground is shut for the annual show held around April each year, so best to ring and check for accurate dates.  The ground may also be shut if there are other events on thought-out the year.

HOW TO GET THERE
Maclean is located just off the Pacific Highway approximately 14km inland from Yamba, 47km North Grafton or 90km South of Ballina.  The showground is located towards the southern end of town.  The best and easiest access is directly into Cameron Street off the Pacific Highway.  From the south you will pass the Ferry Park Rest area, from there travel about 1km where you will see the Showground Entrance on your left.

SITE ACCESS
There are a set of gates with brick pillars out the front.  Once in the drive way veer to the right.  There is a very steep grade down to the camping area.  There is no caretaker on sight, but they attend up to two times a day to check on campers.

FEES & BOOKINGS
$12 per vehicle per night (as of 15/03/19). There is an honesty box system in place located on the toilet wall, with forms to be filled out.  Please place fees in there and the caretakers will attend either morning or afternoon to collect.

RULES
Maximum stay is 72hrs, Dogs on a leash are permitted.

THINGS TO DO
Being a Scottish name, Maclean is steeped in Scottish history which is evident by the Maclean Tartan Power Poles that scatter the town.  There is also the Maclean Scottish Shop specialising in all things Scottish and an ideal place to trace town your family heritage, should you be Scottish.  Other attractions include the Kingstudio Gallery, Ferry Park Gallery, and Maclean Lookout just 2km from town or the Maclean Stone Cottage and Bicentennial Museum
