Kalpowar Camping Area – Kalpowar State Forest (CG)

Kalpowar camping area, located at the start of McNae Road. The grassy camp site features an open forest setting, suitable for families and large groups. The picnic or camp site is in a tranquil bush setting close to Crane Creek. The camping area can be reached by conventional vehicles: trailers: caravans: buses: and motor homes only in dry conditions. Please check road conditions before booking your site.
Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car: caravans: camper trailers: (small) motor homes: large groups.
Camp site surface: grass.

HOW TO GET THERE
The camp site is 1.3km from the Gin-Gin Kalpowar Road. From Monto travel 37km north-east on the Monto-Gladstone Road to the turn-off to Kalpowar State Forest. The gravel access road to the state forest is accessible by conventional vehicle, caravans and motor homes.
From Gin Gin travel 37km north-west on the Bruce Highway to the Kalpowar Road turn-off. Travel a further 50km to Kalpowar State Forest camping area turn off. From here it is a further 1.3km to the camping area.  NOTE: THIS ROUTE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR LARGE RVs OR CARAVANS TOWED BY 2WD VEHICLES.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $23.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

FACILITIES
Tank water must be treated before drinking, pit toilets, picnic tables, communal fire rings, must bring own firewood, no rubbish bins.

RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
