Gordon Creek camping area provides a shady and sheltered area in the rainforest on the bank of Gordon Creek-a great spot for birdwatching. The camping area can be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicles and off-road trailers only.
Number of sites: four numbered sites. Camp sites are very popular during peak periods. Each camp site only allows one car and trailer with maximum of 6 people.
Site 1 and 2 are on the southern bank of Gordon Creek.
Site 3 and 4 are on the northern bank of Gordon Creek.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car and camper trailers.
Camp site surface: dirt.
Shade: all sites are shady and sheltered.

SITE ACCESS
The camp site is near the Gordon Creek crossing on Portland Roads Road-sites one and two are on the southern side of the creek while sites three and four are on the northern side.
Roads into and on Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park (Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal Land (CYPAL) are suited to four-wheel-drive vehicles only. The roads and camping areas are not suitable for caravans.
Turn off the Peninsula Development Road onto Portland Roads Road 35 km north of the Archer River Roadhouse. Drive 97 km along the well-formed gravel road to its junction with Lockhart River Road. From here, continue along Portland Roads Road to Rainforest (3.9 km), Cooks Hut (4.8 km) and Gordon Creek (5.5 km) camping areas. A further 17.4 km past Gordon Creek is the turn-off to Chilli Beach camping area (which is an additional 6 km from that junction).
Alternative access to from the north is via the Frenchmans Track. This is a challenging route with unpredictable creek crossings and steep banks. The road is not maintained and is outside the national park. It is not recommended for vehicles without snorkels and recovery gear, towing trailers or drivers without suitable experience. Turn off the Telegraph Road onto Frenchmans Track, 22 km south of Moreton Telegraph Station. The intersection with Portland Roads Road is 52 km along this track. Turn left onto Portland Roads Road and travel 27 km to its junction with Lockhart River Road. From here, continue along Portland Roads Road to Rainforest (3.9 km), Cooks Hut (4.8 km) and Gordon Creek (5.5 km) camping areas. A further 17.4 km past Gordon Creek is the turn-off to Chilli Beach camping area (which is an additional 6 km from that junction).

Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Camp sites are very popular during peak periods. Campers should plan their visit and obtain an e-permit well in advance.
Fees for camping permits are:
$5.75 per person per night or $23.00 per family group per night.
$3.20 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

FACILITIES
There are no facilities on this camp ground. A hybrid toilet is located at Cooks Hut camping area (about 800 m away).

RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
