East Hope Island campground features peaceful bush camping, far from the bustle of the mainland. It is accesible by boat only.
Location: on the western side of East Hope Island.
Number of sites: three sites (separate but not numbered).
Campsites are suitable for: small to medium sized tents. Each campsite holds up to four people with a maximum total of 12 campers allowed on the island at any one time.
Campsite surface: sand.

SITE ACCESS
Private vessel or with permitted commercial operators. Access is only possible in fair weather.
East and West Hope islands are 8-10 kilometres offshore, approximately 37 kilometres south-east of Cooktown and 22 kilometres north-east of the nearest settlements of Ayton and Wujal Wujal. Access is via private vessels or with permitted commercial operators, and is only possible in fair weather. The islands are within a day’s sailing from Cairns and are an important stop over and anchorage for boats heading to and from Lizard Island and beyond.

Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

FACILITIES
A pit toilet, picnic tables and seats. At each site poles are provided for erecting tarpaulins.

RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
