Duaringa Post & News is known as the country store with the lot and has been owned by locals Glen and Julie Hobill since 2009, and when you visit the store you will understand why. If your camping at the Duaringa Rest Area Free Camp, otherwise known as Mackenzie Park, why not take a stroll to the store and grab yourself some freshly baked bread delivered daily from the Middlemount Bakery, (orders recommended). The store carries a little bit of everything you may need from groceries to other bakery items, ice creams, cold drinks as well as real coffee & tea. Julie and Glen would love to say hello and hear all about your travels.

They are also the local Post Office, offering all Australia Post services including banking, withdrawals and bill payments etc, and a Newsagent, selling local papers, the courier mail and a wide selection of magazines & Scratchits. Julie also loves to create her own individual gifts, gift cards & souvenirs, so you are bound to find some little treasure as a reminder of your stay in Duaringa.

The first postal/telegraph service in Duaringa started in 1875 and moved sites until 1934 where The Post Office still stands today. They are in the original town centre, with the Capricorn Highway being built much later. If walking be aware Duaringa does have very wide streets and large house blocks but it is a lovely stroll and worth the walk.

HOW TO GET THERE
From the Duaringa Free Rest Area, or “Mackenzie Park” you will need to go north away from the Capricorn Highway, “Mackenzie Park” can be entered via Capricorn Hwy,( on the south side) or King Street (on the east side) or William Street (on the west side)

There are 2 roads to follow to find us.(1) follow King Street, north away from the highway to Alice Street ( A T INTERSECTION) turn left, the store is on the next right corner, or (2) follow William Street, north away from the highway to Alice Street, Look for the big red flags on the right corner opposite you.

SITE ACCESS
Because of our lovely wide street there is plenty of room for parking on the road at front of shop
