Cowra Showground (CG)

Cowra is a large country centre situated on the Midwestern Highway where it crosses the Lachlan River in the central west region of NSW. The town has a long and proud history, as the local historical society and museum displays will confirm.

The campground is situated on a large, open, grassy area adjacent to the showgrounds, and accommodates every type of camper and rig from tents and trailers to buses and fifth wheelers, with solid underground making for stable setup and manoeuvrability.

The amenities are clean and adequate and include laundry tubs, and there are plans for an outdoor camp kitchen and a dump point to be constructed at the site in the very near future.

Cowra township is within walking distance of the campground if you feel like a stroll around town. A favourite destination for travellers is the Lachlan Valley Railway Museum, with fascinating displays of all manner of old rolling stock, machinery and memorabilia from NSW Government Railways. Another is the Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre. This beautiful, tranquil garden was established to foster the relationship between our two cultures, as Cowra was the site of a fatal breakout of Japanese from a prisoner of war camp during WWII.

Supermarkets, medical centres and all the businesses, services and shops you need can be found in town.

Well behaved and controlled pets are permitted.

HOW TO GET THERE
From Grenfell enter the town area and turn left into the small street just after the BP then turn left into Cowra Street  and right into the campng area.  From other directions follow signs from Grenfell and the Showground entrance is 450m West of the Young Road (A41), turn first right after the entrance and then as above.
